Today is a New Day

Welcome to my little blog. I call it "Into the Madness or Why I can't Find a Job". I know I'm not alone out here. I know there are others like me.
Do you:
Send out resumes each day (like that lady said on that Fairy Jobmother Show said)
Apply for jobs that you are qualified for (i.e. you have done this work before)
Scan newspapers, job websites, Facebook, Linkdin, Branch Out etc.
Pay an online job search engine company a monthly fee for job lists
Ask friends, family, ex-coworkers for leads or tips
Find yourself praying during the day, at night, all the time
If you answered yes, then we're in the same boat. Here is a bit of my background and how I am going to use this blog to help myself and you out.
Name: Rebecca Rowley (Becky or Becca)
Location: Southwest Ohio
Family: 3 children (18, 15 and 10) + 1 husband + 1 dog + 3 cats + 1 guinea pig + 1 hamster
Education: BA in Communications from The University of Dayton (minors in Interior Design and Marketing) Plus, I was a student of Mary while at UD (yes, Mary as in the Mother of Jesus)
Work Experience: began working in retail while in high school, that career into college; I have been an assistant manager for a retail store, administrative assistant, merchandising specialist, art instructor, cake design instructor, baker, cake decorator, small business owner, concession stand director and donation development coordinator
I haven't been in Public Relations since graduating from college. When I graduated, the jobs for PR professionals were few and far between. I went back to retail, got married and started a family. My husband and I have always worked opposite shifts so that our children weren't in daycare. I have had people tell me that was a mistake, I should have done daycare for them and kept at my career. Right or wrong, good or bad, that wasn't our choice as a family and at this point, it doesn't even matter.
What am I looking for: Full time position that allows me to grow into a career; daytime would be preferable, but if nights is all that is available, then that will have to work
So, that's me ... tomorrow I am going to share with you the jobs I have applied for in the past 2 weeks (then after that I will update 1 x per week) and then I will discuss the application process, what I heard back and such. Together, we'll piece together strategies, share blogs, share resume tips, cover letter tips etc. There must be therapy out there, but since most of us don't have the extra cash to afford that, we'll be out own therapy.
Welcome Into the Madness ... let's hope we can find jobs!
